The Portia Story
Portia began in 2006 when the McArthur family opened their first centers for children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays and disorders.
As The Portia Learning Centre grew, managing an expanding client base and multiple locations with paper-based data collection became increasingly challenging. Frustrated by these limitations and unable to find suitable technology solutions, they worked with the center’s BCBAs to develop software that would solve their own clinic’s “big data problem.”
The results were transformative. With Portia’s intuitive software solution, the centers achieved 100% year-over-year growth and significantly improved treatment outcomes. What started as an internal solution became commercially available in 2012 after other center owners saw the system’s impact and requested access.
Today, Portia has evolved into a comprehensive platform serving ABA providers worldwide, while remaining true to its roots as a business created by practitioners for practitioners. The system fundamentally changes how people with developmental disorders receive treatment by optimizing clinic resources, time, and money.
